Self-testing vs. independent testing
Self-testing means the supplier runs their own analytical instruments and reports their own results. Third-party testing means an independent, external laboratory with no financial interest in the outcome performs the analysis. The distinction matters because self-reported data carries an inherent conflict of interest.
What ISO accreditation means
ISO 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. Accredited labs undergo regular audits, maintain documented quality management systems, and demonstrate technical competence. When a COA comes from an ISO 17025 lab, it carries significantly more weight than results from an unaccredited facility.
Red flags to watch for
Be cautious of suppliers who claim third-party testing but cannot name the testing laboratory, provide COAs without lab letterhead or accreditation numbers, show suspiciously identical purity numbers across different lots, or only offer generic (non-lot-specific) certificates.
The Ascénd standard
Every peptide in our catalog is tested by an independent, ISO-accredited laboratory before it enters inventory. We publish the testing methodology, lab identity, and lot-specific results on every COA. If a lot fails to meet our purity threshold, it is rejected — never discounted or sold as a lower grade.
